I prayed, “Change my life.” | Back
I prayed, “Change my life.” Still, she went—and was in for a rude awakening.

“I was unpleasantly surprised to learn that my double life was spiritual death in the eyes of God,” she explains. “I was not fooling God with my good appearance. As I studied God’s Word, I saw how far away I was from Him. My relationship with Jesus grew deeper. I prayed to God, asking Him to change my life.”

And change it He did.

“I accepted Jesus as my Savior and was baptized,” Anca continues. “I praise Him for calling me from the darkness into His light. I’m so thankful for the Bible study lessons that helped lead me to Christ.”

Thank you for your gifts and prayers that lead thousands of Eastern Europeans—young and old alike—to a saving faith in Jesus Christ each year. Your gift today will provide God’s Word and help more Christians to use the Bible to advance God’s kingdom throughout this region. Thank you!

Many people in Romania, a stronghold of the Orthodox faith, live in spiritual darkness. Though they know of God, few know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Young Anca, however, was different. She was raised in an evangelical Christian home.

Still, as she grew a bit older, the 17-year-old confesses that the lure of her “worldly” friends proved too strong for her to resist. “I just wanted to hang out with them,” she says. “I had no intention of telling them about God.” She even admits that although she went to church, she was going for all the wrong reasons—simply to please her parents.

No more excuses
“Christian friends would invite me to meetings, but I’d always find excuses not to come,” says the teen. But she ran out of excuses when young people at church started a Bible study using training, Bibles, and Bible study materials from Bible League International.

“The study sounded interesting, but I still felt the pull of my friends from school and the discos,” says Anca.
