“How could I ever go back?”A childhood of rituals
Rituals are an important aspect of the devout Hindu, and Sameer knew rituals well. From daily pujas to elaborate shrautas and rites of passage, Sameer longed to please his family along with many gods. However, when a friend involved him with an aggressive anti-Christian organization, he couldn’t understand why he was supposed to hate Christians. For years, he questioned his actions.

Turning point
“When I first met Sameer, he had already spent most of his life serving in an anti-Christian organization,” shares Samuel, a worker trained by Bible League International. “He had many troubles at home, and actively protested to prevent the preaching of the Gospel throughout India. He had negative ideas and many questions about the validity of Christianity.”

Knowing this, Samuel cautiously witnessed to Sameer. “I didn’t answer his questions about God. I led him through a Bible study so he could read and understand the Word of God for himself. As we studied together, the Holy Spirit began transforming his mind and his heart. He pleaded with me, ‘How could I ever go back to my old life without Christ?’”

Transformation
Sameer was baptized, and is now an active member of an evangelical church in his village. Although he left his high status in the anti-Christian organization, he found the importance of God in his life.

“Sameer is a modern day Saul turned to Paul,” adds Samuel. “The transformation in this life is only possible through the power of God!”

This kind of life transformation is happening throughout all of India. You can help more people like Sameer connect with Jesus Christ. Please pray, and give to provide Bibles and training throughout India today.

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” —2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
