Twenty-one year old Surgat lives with his parents in southern Russia. By his own admission, his family was happy.
Life couldn’t get much better. Or could it?
Surgat’s story
His parents were born and raised under an atheistic Soviet system, so faith didn’t come up in conversations. “My father, though, was a nominal believer,” says Surgat. “I sometimes saw him paging through the Bible, but I never saw him study it.
“One day, I took the Bible from the shelf,” he continues. “I was surprised that I couldn’t understand what I was reading. I showed my dad and asked him if he knew what it meant. He said it was beyond him, but he told me there was a place we might find out. |
That Sunday, Surgat and his dad went to a small church established by a church planter trained by Bible League International.
“My dad and I were excited about the message,” shares Surgat. “We didn’t understand much, but we knew our lives would change if we read the Bible.
“We started to attend a Bible study. God’s Word came alive for us! My dad and I became new creations in Christ. My mom saw our changed lives and now comes with us to the Bible study and to church.”
Thank you!
