Church in a tiny apartment? | Back
Church in a tiny apartment?
As a teenager, Jin and four others in his village were poisoned by leaking gas. “The four others died. One of them was Jin’s brother,” shares our national director. “Jin was the only survivor.”

After several hospitalizations, Jin’s health deteriorated, and some of his organs were not functioning properly. He wrestled with God during this time. Although his parents were Christians, Jin had strayed away from God.

While in the hospital, he remembered that his body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. He repented and cried out to the Lord for healing.

A life of service and sacrifice
After years of treatment and recovery, Jin renewed his relationship with the Lord. A pastor recognized Jin’s faithfulness and recommended him for Biblical training. Jin graciously accepted!

When he finished his studies and married, he desired to plant a church. But all he had was his tiny apartment.
So with a small supply of Bibles, his three bedroom apartment became a house church. Many of his relatives, including his eldest sister, looked to Jin for guidance.

Although Jin and his family must worship in secret to stay under Chinese government radar, it is worth it. Many people in their village are coming to know Christ as they gather together to study His Word.

Jin and his wife stand strong on their Christian faith as they sacrificially share the Gospel each week—knowing that they continue walking in God’s perfect plan for their lives.

“…My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” —Psalm 18:2 (NIV)
