From horror to happiness | Back
From horror to happiness “That was when my husband and I began to seek God. When we finished the studies, he asked if we would like to repent and follow Jesus’ truth in our lives.”

They did, indeed! Eva and her husband were baptized. “When we found Jesus, we found joy,” says Eva. “All my bitterness disappeared. God waited for us for more than 70 years!”

Today, the couple shares God’s Word and His love as they hold Bible studies in their home. “We want to dedicate the rest of our lives to Jesus and die in Him,” says Eva. “The Lord is our happiness.”

You can help more people in the former Soviet Union find true happiness in Jesus when you provide Bibles and training today.

Sitting in her small home in the former Soviet republic of Moldova, Eva can still recall the horror of life in the U.S.S.R. decades earlier. When she was a child, the authorities banished her family to Siberia. The “hunger, cold, and humiliation” they endured exacted a heavy toll. “My parents, brothers, and sisters all died,” she says. “When I went alone to Moldova to work, I did not have peace.”

Despite having a job, a husband, and two children, true happiness eluded her. When her husband died, she was alone again. But then God brought two new men—another husband and a church planter trained by Bible League International—and our Savior into her life.

“God waited for us”

“The [church planter] came to our house one day and invited us to a Bible study,” says Eva.
